Pi Network Launches Node 0.6.2 Update
Pi Network has released Node version 0.6.2. The update brings changes to SoloHost, Node connectivity, and the Pi Desktop app.
Alongside the release, Pi Network confirmed that a distributed computing test ran successfully through a SoloHost app. Five volunteer Node runners took part in the test.
This marks another step for Pi Network as it tries to push Pi Nodes beyond blockchain support and into real computing work.

Before this update, setting up ports for Node connectivity often meant digging into router settings. That step caused trouble for less technical users trying to connect mobile devices to apps running on their Node.
The new port checker and UPnP support aim to remove that friction.
Pi Network Completes Distributed Computing Test
Pi Network also confirmed that its distributed computing test through SoloHost is done. Five volunteers ran the test on their own devices.
Each device completed the computing tasks sent automatically through the SoloHost app. The test checked the full flow, from connecting to a Pi coordinator, to receiving jobs, to sending results back.
SoloHost first launched in beta on Pi2Day 2026. It works as an open framework inside Pi Desktop where developers can build and list self-hosted apps.
At launch, SoloHost mainly supported locally-run tools like AI agents. This new test pushes it toward distributed computing, where tasks spread across many devices at once.
Why This Matters for Pi Network's Node Network
This work builds on an earlier proof-of-concept project. That project looked at whether Pi's network of over 420,000 Nodes could support decentralized AI training and computing tasks.
SoloHost now turns that idea into something closer to a working app. Third-party clients could send compute jobs to the network. In return, Node runners could get paid in Pi.
If this scales, Pi Nodes may become a computing layer for AI and other heavy workloads. Pioneers would earn from devices they already run, without extra hardware.
It is worth noting the test involved just five participants so far. Whether this expands to thousands of Nodes, and how paid jobs would work in practice, remains to be seen.
What Protocol v26 Changes on Pi Network
Along with Node 0.6.2, Pi Network also moved its Mainnet blockchain to Protocol v26. The team calls it a major protocol change ahead of the planned Protocol v27 upgrade.
Pi Network said v26 focuses on four areas. These are contract safety, state management, interoperability, and cryptographic capabilities.
The Pi Core Team required all Mainnet Node operators to complete the Protocol v26 upgrade by August 11. Operators who missed this deadline risk losing connection to the network.
